The Story of Director Oleg Rozov and Red Star Timbers:
1984: Oleg Rozov has graduated from University of Khabarovsk with a Master's degree in Civil Engineering. 1984-1989: Oleg Rozov moved to Central Siberia, he started out working as a foreman to being promoted to a project manager during this time working for the Soviet State. 1991-1993: After the Soviet Union fell apart. The country was in poverty, making it difficult for citizens to find work and feed their families. Even with a new democratic government. This period also affected Oleg's business. His company had found success in manufacturing and producing Siberian Larch logs. Their problem was finding consumers to buy their product because no one was financially viable of buying their goods. It got to the point that Oleg had made a contract with a local farmer. He would receive the farmer's cows from his cattle stock in a exchange of a truck load of Siberian Larch Logs. Oleg did this because he didn't want his workers to starve to death.

1998-1999: A devastating financial crisis happened across Asia. This crippled two of Oleg's biggest traders, China and Japan. Both the countries economy's had crashed. Therefore, His clients from those countries had stopped buying his product. This majorly affected Oleg's business and He decided to sell his business. Oleg didn't see a point in running another business in Russia so he decided to leave the country to seek a fresh start.

Oleg's re-instated Siberian Larch forestry camp (1991)
1991: This was the year the empire of Soviet Union fell apart and the new democratic government came into power. Therefore, the new government allowed to start up and run private businesses. There was an abandoned Siberian Larch forestry labor camp nearby Krasnoyarsk, Central Siberia. The state had deserted the forestry land, equipment gear, and Laborers. Oleg saw this as an opportunity to reinstate the camp back into operation for business use. The Laborers were very happy to be employed by Oleg because the 1990's was a hard time for citizens to find work and make a living while the whole country was in poverty.

1994-1997: Oleg had managed to get a bank loan out to purchase his first Wood-Mizer. This had enabled him to start processing the Siberian larch logs into timber. During this time, he had also built his own kiln furnace on his yard. Oleg had also been invited to visit Portland, Oregon, USA for a couple months to observe and study of how the Americans operated their forestry business. During his time in Oregon, Oleg had learned quite a few tips of how their business managed effectively. Oleg had returned back to Siberia, He had saved enough funds to buy his first helicopter, The Mil Mi-8. The helicopter was used to transport fresh cut logs back to base. The new form of transport was a great expansion to his business because it saved a lot of time transporting the logs from the forest back to his base. Overall, This was a very successful period for Oleg's business. His product Siberian Larch timber was getting recognised and testified by many of his clients in across Asia and the United States.

2000's till now:
Since Oleg's arrival to New Zealand, He had re-united with his old connections from Central Siberia and Founded Red Star Timbers in early 2000's. He still continues to import Siberian Larch and sell it to New Zealand and Australia. Oleg still has passion for timber industry and his infamous product, Siberian Larch. Oleg has been selling his Siberian Larch for over 30 years. With over 30 years under his belt, He will always stand by the fact that his timber Siberian Larch is the best on the market! |
